About Dr. Norton
Psychologist Penelope Norton specializes in psychotherapy, promoting healing and personal development through understanding of self and others. She has over 25 years experience in the practice of psychological care, and most of her current referrals come from her clients’ appreciation of her work.
Through formal training at the Universities of Florida and Rochester, Dr. Norton developed and strengthened her life-long interest in families, human development and healing. She has taught undergraduate and graduate psychology at Nazareth College, Nova and Stetson Universities and at the University of Central Florida. She supervises students in psychology, mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy. She has consulted with physicians, attorneys, educators and mental health program directors regarding the promotion of mental health throughout the human service spectrum.
Dr. Norton is a member of Florida Psychological Association (FPA), American Psychological Association (APA), and the American Academy of Psychotherapists (AAP). She is co-editor of AAP’s psychotherapy journal, Voices.
Dr. Norton is married and has three children. An avid reader, she enjoys singing, fiber arts, and outdoor adventures such as canoeing and hiking. She practices her belief that a well rounded, balanced life is an essential foundation for wellness.
